Healing & Learning with Sound & Nature

I am a 30+ year Tahoe Local, and have weathered many personal storms to arrive here at post-motherhood Life.

My connection with Nature on a primal level began while exploring the woods in the northern CA redwoods as a child. I’d go to the trees and sit with them for hours, listening, singing, and observing animals as they passed me by…

I joined my first women’s drumming circle in 1997 and it shaped my belief system for years to come. I learned the ways of Indigenous belief and the Sacred Four Directions.

Though the “normal” life was always there, through trials and troubles and personal grief and growth, my Compass with the Medicine Wheel and those beliefs held me steady.

I am a realist. I don’t pretend to wear all white and live in a state of perfection. Life is messy and sometimes uncomfortable. I allow for these feelings when I work with people. Offering options for grounding and getting yourself back to center, even in the storm. I won’t sugar coat my opinions. I believe we have to get to the nitty gritty and be willing to get our hands dirty when we do our deep work.
I also believe in dancing with joy and recognizing our triumphs, ever so small!

Joy is supposed to be our natural state, and for me, that joy lives in the forest…in being one with nature.

Solstice and the spinning wheel...

Sometimes I think I am more attuned to the passage of time because my birthday is the first of the year... As the embodiment of Father Time/Baby New Year, I'm always rebirth8ing myself as the year wheel spins...

We are so used to seeing the world as a 2 dimensional image - the Solar System, Moon and Sun orbits are always shown as a simple drawing of concentric circles. When the reality is that our ENTIRE milky Way Galaxy is shooting across the vastness of space at speeds we can't comprehend...and our sun is too, and so are we.

When we stop to think about this reality, the scene in front of our very eyes becomes a miracle. How is it that things are 'slowed down' enough for us to even walk across the earth?

I'm sure you've heard that Solstice means "sun standing still"...

So this is a strange dichotomy just like the wonder of the movement/stillness of our cosmic experience above. While it is the height of the growing season, and everything is vibrantly reaching, striving, blooming, etc. We are at a standstill at the same time. Solstice gives us a chance to pause, to recalibrate, review and see if our ideas and goals at the start of things is still the same...what tweaks do we need to make? What weeds of distraction do we need to eliminate? How have WE grown and bloomed in the interim?

The Solstice is not a one-time event...it holds a space for us for about 3 days... just like a Full or New Moon's energy. Take advantage of the Universe holding this container for us and review your ideas, goals, dreams. Ground them in the earth once more, and don't forget to water!
Blessings and Peace!
